NominationsSeeking suggestions for INS President ElectWednesday afternoon I was asked to serve as interim chair of the Nominating Committee for the sole purpose of running the Committee’s work on the President Elect selection process. Joe Fins, who has been doing a great job as committee chair, has said that he is interested in being considered for President Elect. He has recused himself and our President, Nita Farahany, asked me to serve in this role. The Nominating Committee will meet over the next three weeks to discuss candidates for this important office and we seek your assistance. The Board is supposed to interview President Elect candidates on October 1. The Committee will be moving quickly but carefully so we can provide the Board with one or (preferably) more excellent candidates, along with some background information from them. President Elect is a three-year commitment — one as President Elect and two as President — and so not to be entered into lightly. One obvious source for possible nominees is current and past members of the Board — people who have experience with the Society at the highest level. The President Elect need not be an existing or past member of the Board. Members who have been active in Society affairs but have not been board members, as well as particularly prominent non-Society members who could bring something special to the Society, could also be considered.
